Avid Media Composer 5.5
Avid has recently announced version 5.5, and the news is all exciting and good. Avid continues to evolve and support a more open format. They are allowing even more third-party support, which something in the past was impossible. It seems Avid has done an about face and is really giving other NLE’s a run for the money. Even in our SuperNLE Bowl, Avid came out victorious.
Check out some of the new features in Avid Media Composer 5.5

Avid now also supports third party systems such as the AJA IO Express. They also provided native HDCAM SR Lite through the AMA ( Avid Media Access ) with all realted metadata. This great news for those of us that work heavily with HDCAM footage.
All of these new features mean Avid has really evolved into a very serious editing platform, one that I will be getting my hands on for a full review on Tej’s Tech Blog soon.
In the mean time check out some of the Avid’s AMA working with HDCAM SR Video.
