Empower your Rome video production with an expert crew
Rome, capital of Italy and former center of a globe-spanning empire, is bustling, exciting and dotted with iconic locations. All these attributes could make it the perfect destination for your next corporate video shoot. In today’s highly competitive media landscape, setting up in a well-equipped filming location is a way to get ahead in your industry.
When your corporate video has B-roll or location shots featuring landmarks like the Colosseum or Trevi Fountain, there’s no doubt about where it was filmed. The streets and piazzas of Rome can give your content an indelible character. You can also choose a more modern location to gain a hip, metropolitan character. With its scale and many accumulated eras of history, Rome is adaptable.
Rome’s status as a world capital means it’s highly accessible from other parts of Europe — or anywhere in the world. Once there, you can immerse yourself in the local culture, including renowned museums and renowned cuisine. Add in warm weather and a rich cinema history and it’s clear that Rome has plenty to offer as a filming location — but how can you make sure your shooting experience goes smoothly? This is where third parties can have a major impact.
Why work with experts to film corporate video in Rome?
Capturing Rome on film in all its glory is a worthy goal for your organization, and one best pursued with the help of a local expert crew. Working with professionals who know the area can help you overcome challenges such as the city’s notorious snarled traffic, and to navigate the permit application process. All your effort getting to the great monuments could be wasted if you can’t secure permission to film them.
Crews Control works exclusively with crew members who know their respective areas well. This means that when in Rome, you can film as the Romans do — you’ll feel like a local immediately with these experts on hand to translate, navigate and assist with legal compliance.
In addition to providing local expertise and insights, these crew members can use their expertise to supplement your internal crew and talent, elevating the quality of your video content. Working with specialists means you gain a level of cutting-edge video expertise and technology without adding permanent salaries or buying equipment out of pocket.

What makes Rome a unique video production location?
Crews Control’s teams have been filming in Rome for years, and in that time they’ve discovered the best ways to navigate the city and get the necessary footage without pushing a project off schedule or over budget. One of these experts, Director of Photography Ahmed Bahaddou has shared the following insights worth knowing about shooting video in the Italian capital:
- Be sure to get permits: All exterior locations in Rome require permits for filming. It may take up to two weeks to secure all the necessary approvals, and if you’re interested in capturing exclusive footage of the most iconic monuments, you’ll likely have to pay. With that said, there is some room for negotiation on fees.
- Enjoy outdoor shooting in spring and fall: The Roman climate is generally warm. This means it’s often pleasant to film outside, but the summer poses challenges beyond the weather — this is when tourists come to the city in mass numbers, making it hard to navigate. April-June and September-October provide the best combination of peace and warmth.
- The Italian language matters: Not only are some of the official filming permits in Italian, speaking Italian is important for communication. Unlike in some other European cities where English is nearly universally spoken, language skills (or an interpreter) can prove highly relevant in Rome.
- Iconic sights are worth filming: Some of the most famous buildings of the ancient world are in Rome. If you can get the permits to film them, they can make perfect B-roll features for your clips. An expert crew can capture footage of the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Pantheon and other landmarks that will make them look stunning, overcoming any worries about how familiar they are.
With a Crews Control team on your side, you can capture the grandeur and bustling spirit of Rome, an ancient city that always finds ways to stay modern. Once you’ve started filming corporate video there, you’ll surely be inspired with new ideas for future clips.
