And there’s a good reason why.

New York City is loaded with a very rich history. It is a city that has played an integral role in every facet of American life. And out of the history of New York City comes historic buildings, bars, hotels, gardens, coffee shops, parks, and other video shoot locations that have made their way into classic movies, commercials, and music videos.

In this blog, we will look specifically at one place in the Big Apple, and that is the historic and undoubtedly unparalleled Flatiron Building.

A Brief History of the Flatiron Building

The Flatiron Building was designed by Daniel Burnham, a Chicago architect. This iconic building, known for its unusual triangular shape, was built in 1902.

The building is 22 stories and a little over 300 feet. While it is definitely not the city’s tallest building, it is without a doubt a structure that has been sought out by tourists, photographers, and videographers.

In its early days, the building was criticized for its triangular design, many even feared that the building’s design was dangerous and would eventually collapse.

But, almost 120 years later, after being the focus of paintings, postcards, and countless photographs, the building held together by a skeleton of steel still stands strong.

Movies Filmed at the Flatiron Building

As you would imagine, the Flatiron Building has been featured in quite a few Hollywood movies and classics. Movies that have featured the well-known construction in their reels include:

  • Armageddon
  • Hitch
  • Spiderman
  • Godzilla
  • The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • New York Minute
  • As Good as it Gets
  • Veronica’s Closet

The Interior

Other than the notably picturesque outside of the Flatiron building—one that allows photographers and videographers to capitalize on shooting video and stills that includes one-of-a-kind angles. The interior of the Flatiron Building introduces spacious open atriums, hallways filled with natural light that flows in through large windows, vintage hardwood floors, and striking views that look out into the Flatiron District.

The unique head-turning building also includes modern apartments where the vintage feel and age of the building seem to dissipate once inside.

Although New York offers seemingly endless video shoot locations for camera crews filming their video projects, this one NYC video shoot location has everything required to film uniquely different scenes that invoke fully different emotions, colors, and time periods.
