Posted by Cricket Capucci on November 16, 2012

If you are the type that likes to stay ahead of the technology curve, I have great news for you and your film crew. Sony’s new PVM-X300 is a 30-inch 4096 x 2160 resolution monitor will last you well into the next decade. The PVM-X300’s 30-inch 4K LCD panel is capable of displaying more than four times Full HD resolution in a single screen.

Incorporated in the PVM-X300 monitor is Sony’s exclusive TRIMASTER™ technology architecture. This is what allows the monitor to achieve its excellent color and picture quality reproduction. It makes this monitor ideal for 4K cinema production, 4k live production, and real-time 4K presentation.

Where Sony had it right was to create this monitor as portable as possible. They understand how critical it was for this product to be usable in the field, as much as it was in the studio. There is an incredible range of uses for this product including documentaries, corporate production, and varied commercial applications.

“The evolution of professional monitors is essential for 4K production in the field, as existing 4K monitors can be heavy and unsuitable for field work,” said Gary Mandle, senior product manager for professional displays, Sony Electronics. “We designed the PVM-X300 for high performance and versatility in terms of its interfaces, controls and compatibility with production cameras and memory media. These technologies will give content creators in the field new, innovative ways of telling stories without having to worry about limitations when on the set.”

Key Features:

  • Auto White Adjustment*

PVM X300 interfacesWhen considering that next camera purchase or equipment upgrade, make sure you keep in mind that by the year 2020 it is likely 4K resolution (Ultra HD) will be a broadcast standard. By investing now you will be ahead of the curve, but that’s not to say it doesn’t come at a cost. Staying ahead of the curve means you have to invest early and pay top dollar for technology that is in Beta or version 1.0. This can be time consuming, but in the end the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

*Supported by V1.1 (expected in spring of 2013) or later upgrade.
