8 Corporate Holiday Video Ideas for 2021

Posted by Kim Moseman on November 9, 2021

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner! And with the holiday season comes the perfect time to show off your creativity with a company end-of-year video. Holiday videos are also a great way to close out the year for your audience and internal team in a fun and entertaining way.

But let’s be honest, some of these videos can be cliché. The question is- should you lean into the cheesiness or do something unexpected?

You may remember this post from 2019. And while many of the video approaches in that video are still relevant, the pandemic has changed the video production industry. Thus, changing holiday videos. As of August 2021, 61% of US holiday shoppers say they plan to shop early to avoid items being out of stock. So let’s jump right into 8 corporate video ideas for the 2021 holiday season:

1.Challenge Your Team in a Fun Game:

Be like the folks at Lecco Steel and introduce your audience to your team with a game. Challenge everyone to a hot sauce tasting and see who can handle the heat! This game can also be done with a team scattered across different homes and offices. Everyone can record themselves at home or use the same set-up in the office. Hope you can get some willing participants!

2. Transparency is Key:

The last two years have been challenging across most industries. There is no need to sugarcoat your company’s journey- but you can poke some fun at it. Audiences will like to see authenticity, so in the case of Blackstone and their 2020 holiday video, create a feel good video that showcases how your company has rolled with the punches and stayed afloat during unprecedented times. Bonus points if you can get your audience to chuckle.

3. The Power of a Green Screen:

Using a green screen allows any filmmaker to layer a background with the subject being filmed or photographed. This is a great tool for remote workforces or in a drab office space. Insert your company’s CEO in front of any location- even more than one! This method is relatively inexpensive and can be a very creative way to spice up a floating head shot. 4. User-Generated Content Is Your Friend:

Many companies still have their employees scattered and working from home. Filming from home has certainly gotten easier since the pandemic with light kits, greenscreens and small mics. User-generated content can be cheaper than a full production, increase the volume of content you can share and is generally very convenient for scattered teams.

5. The Power of Music:

One should not underestimate the value of music in a video. A good soundtrack can make or break a video and there are plenty of great choices around the holidays. The Cary Company does an excellent job at this in the video below. But before you shoot, make sure you have the rights and permissions!

6. Social Responsibility:

Show your audience that your company cares! We all know how difficult the last two years have been for everyone. Make a video of your company supporting a local charity or benefiting the local community. Not only is it in the ‘holiday spirit’ but it also shows that your company take social responsibility seriously.

7. Utilize Animation:

While in-person filming has made a tremendous comeback since March 2020, it is still not feasible for some companies. Consider using an animation studio to create your holiday video message. Check out our animation resources here and check out the video below from Hootsuite for some inspiration.

8. Year in Review:

Take after Google and create an inspiring and tear-jerking ‘year in review’ video for your company. This holiday video can pull together so many video methods that you have at your disposal. Use some left over b-roll from training videos or some user-generated content from your remote workforce. Your employees and audiences will love to see what your company accomplished this year.
